A Space Map of Mars Land
Our vision
To transform the “land of craters” in the south of Israel into the land of Mars, by establishing an international center that will become a magnet and an arena of learning, research and experience for all those involved in the field of space and for all those who want to experience the field. The land of Mars will be established in the heart of the Negev and the Arava, which include 300,000 square meters of land declared by UNESCO as an international geological nature reserve. The aera includes five drift craters simulating the surface of the Moon, Mars and other planets. In addition, the town of Mitzpe Ramon, which sits on the edge of the Ramon Crater, was declared by UNESCO as one of the 50 starlight reserves in the world. Our center will include an academy for space studies, an innovation center, theoretical and practical research laboratories in all fields related to the space industry, residences that simulate living on Mars, the Moon, and other planets, and a center for training teams of young astronauts for landing and living on Mars. The purpose of the aforementioned centers is to create an extensive space industry and space tourism in the Negev and the Arava. Land of Mars 2050: This branding and actions supporting the creation of space activity will change the face of the region on an international level similar to branded areas such as Napa Valley, Silicon Valley and others. It will be a magnet for space-tech industries, entrepreneurs, real estate development and new settlements, thus fulfilling Ben-Gurion's vision, adapted to the 21st century.
Space-Agriculture Center at Ramat Negev R&D
Mars Land Israel (Public Benefit Company) in cooperation with Ramat Negev R&D, will promote the development of a center for Space Agriculture which will include: 1) an international experimental station to be used by space agencies, research institutions and start-up companies from around the world, 2) an international training and education facility 3 ) a Visitor Center with educational activities in fields related to space agriculture.
Ramat Negev R&D is a world-renowned agriculture research facility that aims to promote and develop the future generation of space agriculture, with the understanding that it is a key and foundation for the future of humanity.
The Negev region is a fertile ground for the development of the field, due to the vast areas and the desert terrain that simulates the moon and Mars. It enables the existence of a natural research laboratory related to agriculture and life on celestial bodies.
Within the framework of the R&D center, we will advance and assist entrepreneurs, organizations and space agencies in providing a complete envelope - from the support of a team of experts and steering committees, through cooperation with government and private funds. Our goal is to develop an active and innovative space-agriculture community that will be a magnet for all those involved in the field, both from Israel and from abroad.
We are currently working on several collaborations, for example: 1) a plant growth project on the Moon (part of NASA’s Artemis project); 2) a Remote Sensing educational program with a local university, and more.
Information for entrepreneurs \ Dream. Invent. Experience
Mars Land will work to promote its vision through media channels, the governmental ministries, the local authorities and councils, public bodies, and all the industrial companies and associations operating in the field, in order to promote and raise awareness, establish, assist and support all tourism and educational business activities and entrepreneurship in the Negev and Arava region in the fields of space. This will include locating designated areas for activities, creating an accessible local and international network of experts, and assisting with financing, raising capital and grants, in order to create Mars Land’s roadmap and change the face of the Negev and the Arava into an international Mars Land.
When human capital meets natural resources
Mars Land is a unique and rare natural resource. The development of Mars Land as a “planetary system” on the surface of the Earth, is based on the preservation of nature, sustainability, and the preservation of natural treasures of Earth. When natural resources meet human capital, space is not the limit.
